About Us
Religious Education in ACT schools
Parents of children at an ACT public school may request their child receive religious education in a particular religion as provided for by the Education Act, Section 29.
The principal coordinates the teaching of religious education in public schools in cooperation with specific religious bodies and parents.
Students require parental consent to participate in religious education classes, and regular classes are provided for students not attending the program.

Who we are
Christian Education In Schools (CEIS) is a ministry of Scripture Union Australia (SU) that supports local communities and churches in the delivery of Christian Religious Education in government schools across the ACT in accordance with Territory legislation and policy.
The CEIS sub-committee partners with churches across Canberra to advocate for and support the ministry of SU and Christian Religious Education in Canberra’s government schools.
CEIS staff train volunteer Christian Religious Education teachers, develop and provide curriculum resources, and coordinate with schools to coordinate sessions and respond to parent requests for Christian Religious Education.
