Schools Ministry Sunday (SMS)

School Ministry Sunday (SMS) is a Sunday in February each year for ACT churches to devote a part of their worship on the commencement of the new school year and the Christian ministries provided in (Government) schools. Click here for this year’s nominated date.

School ministry organisations throughout the ACT unite for SMS, including Christian Education In Schools (CEIS), School Chaplaincy ACT, The Salvation Army (Red Cap anger management), Scripture Union (SUPA clubs), Kids Hope Aus, Young Life, Fusion and breakfast clubs.

Churches are encouraged to celebrate and pray for the ministries, children, parents and staff as the school year commences. Several SMS resources are available to assist churches participating. CEIS  provides a video that can be used and it is also the nominated recipient of any retiring offerings taken to support school ministry. See the SMS retiring offering deposit page for more details.

For further information or to request a presentation by a CEIS staff member please contact the CEIS Project Officer.
