Who are we?
Christian Education In Schools (CEIS) is a project of the ACT Churches Council, that works towards religious harmony across all churches in the ACT.
The Council is made up of representatives from different Christian denominations: Anglican, Apostolic, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Church of Christ, Lutheran, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, Salvation Army and Uniting as well as other churches and church organisations such as the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture and Scripture Union ACT.
See the page ‘A United Front’ for comments in support of the CEIS project.
In response to the 2004 ACT Education ACT allowing Religious Education in ACT government schools, the Council established a Reference Committee to oversee the Christian Education In Schools project.
The Christian Education project is coordinated by two part time workers based at an inner city church (refer to the Contact page for details). The project is funded by churches and other Christians and receives no regular government funding.
